It’s a story not unlike many others who’s plans were dashed when Covid 19 government restrictions forced the hand of wedding venues, suppliers and brides and grooms to be across the nation. A ‘We’ve Postponed’ note quickly ensued and Nikki and Kyle were left with nothing to do but wonder if they will ever be able to tie the knot with friends and family by their side. As 2020 continued, the couple rode that roller coaster of emotions all the way into the new year and to make things a little harder, the two were separated by border closures for long periods of time. Still their spirits did not wain and as if a final test of their resolve add love for one another, an intense low pressure system brought 100 year flooding rains to the North Coast of NSW. With just 48 hours until the big day, the Pacific Hwy was closed at several points. Guests would have to wait to see if they could even get to Coffs Harbour to attend…

The skies cleared and the sun shone down on a beautiful Autumn day at Pacific Bay Resort and one could not help but shed a ‘Happy Tear’ as Nikki finally walked down the aisle to say her I-do’s. Nikki and Kyle simply adore one another and their friends and beautiful families were all there to celebrate their big day. We asked this power couple a few questions about planning the perfect wedding day – Here’s what they had to say…

Why did you choose Pacific Bay Resort?

We wanted a wedding venue that offered both ceremony and reception venues at the one place, great food and beverage offering as well as accommodation onsite for our guests.

What made Pacific Bay Resort a great location for both your wedding party and your guests?

It’s only 5 minutes north of Coffs Harbour with ample accommodation onsite. The bridal party got ready in one of the recently renovated 3 bedroom apartments. It had plenty of space and natural light for Hair and makeup to come to us onsite. Majority of our guests took advantage of the discount they offer for accommodation meaning they didn’t need to worry about driving or getting a taxi.

Your 3 top tips for planning a wedding

  • Pick professional suppliers: although you can save money on some aspects spend the money and get a good photographer/ Videographer/ stylist/ venue. They do this every week and will ensure you have the best (stress free) day and great memories to look back on.

  • Be organised: you will have a better wedding planning experience if you aren’t running around the week of the wedding doing things you have forgotten. Write lists to keep you on track.

  • Write your own vows: it seems like a daunting thing but remember the ceremony is the most important part of the day. Personalised ceremonies are a beautiful way to express your love for one another and its a lot more entertaining for your friends and family too.

  • Bonus tip: spend some time together alone on the day. when went for photos just the two of us and it was so nice to enjoy each other’s company amidst the chaos of a massive wedding day.

Thanks Nikki and Kyle – Here’s to a long and happy life together!
